Sitting position after embryo transfer

Topic

When your embryo is transferred successfully , you are advised to take good rest but to avoid some vigorous activities. A funny saying said by some doctors is “ your embryo will not fall out from your uterus”. It may take some time to implant successfully in the uterine wall. So give it some relaxed setup.

There is no need to take complete bed rest after your embryo implantation process. You may do your regular activities in your home but don’t pressure yourself to do anything.

Advice of healthcare on sitting position after embryo transfer

For a successful and safe IUI treatment , you may care for yourself with utmost attention and you are also advised to take good rest by avoiding hard core work. There is a common misunderstanding that prevails after IUI treatment is taking full bed rest and avoiding sitting on the floor. But these two are not right.

Doctors never suggest you to take full bed rest after your iui procedure and also you may sit on the floor when you feel more comfortable. There is no need to concentrate more on your sitting posture and don’t cross your legs while sitting in a chair or floor. Let us see the best sitting positions after your successful embryo transfer.

Does Sitting Position Matter?

The overall timing of the procedure is a maximum of half an hour. After implanting , your health care provider may advise you to stay flat for nearly 30 minutes to make yourself feel better and pave the way for the sperm to travel to the fallopian tubes easily after direct injection thus making quick fertilisation.

Your sitting position does not matter much. But you may not choose to sit with crossing legs. If you sit with your legs crossed then you automatically put some pressure on your lower abdomen. For the better fertilisation process you may be more conscious of several things including avoid high heat exposure, avoid strenuous exercises, avoid exposure to electrical items especially your mobile phone, laptop, personal computer, etc., Have a good deep sleep to make your body feel more relaxed and calm.

What is the best position after embryo transfer?

There are some points to remember to attain the best position after embryo implantation on your body. They are as follows:

  • Sit straight with your back and slightly push your shoulder to your back. Your rear must touch the back of the chair.
  • Sit with some support at your lower back ( if you experience some lower back pain) like small pillows or rolled up towels.

If you are not using your back support then you may follow these tips to make yourself comfortable.

  • It doesn’t matter where you are going to sit. You may choose to sit in a chair or sofa or on the floor. It is totally up to you.
  • You must sit to the end of the chair or sofa or if you sit on the floor choose a wall to support your back.
  • Make yourself comfortable by sitting straight and lounge calmly. Wait for a few seconds.
  • Release your two legs slightly at ten degrees. This is a good sitting position.
  • Now, spread your whole body weight into your two sides of hips.
  • Your hip and knee must be at right angle and rest your feet on the floor
  • If you are sitting on the floor, stretch out your legs and avoid crossed legs.
  • Don’t hold yourself in one position for more than half an hour.
  • When you are at work, try to adjust your chair’s position according to your comfort zone. Sit near to the desk and rest your hands and elbows on the desk and make your shoulder more relaxed.
  • When you are sitting in a rolling chair, don’t turn your waist alone, try to turn your whole body to respond to another person.
  • When you want to stand out from your chair, just come front to the seat and stand on your legs. Do some simple back stretches.

It’s completely normal to sit in any position at any place but you must not cross your legs and don’t stress your lower abdomen. Also make sure to change the sitting position frequently and avoid staying at one place for more than an hour.

Conclusion

From the above explanation , we came to know that there is no particular position to excel the embryo implantation as well as there is no specific position which causes miscarriage during your IUI procedure. Its wholly depend on the ovulation timing, sperm quality, age, women’s physical and mental health, etc.,

But you must avoid the heavy activities which you usually do at your home or work. It may include washing hefty clothes by hand, lifting large weights or doing massive workouts. Stay healthy and do calming activities to make yourself comfortable to bear a child in your womb.
